Loading
Toy Safety is sort of an oxymoron. Parents must protect their children from the very things they give and encourage them to have"TOYS".There are very simple common sense tips that can help you set up a safer play environment. - When considering a toy for your baby or toddler look for toys that are age appropriate and at your child's skill ability.
- Become a label reader. Look at recommended ages and safety warnings.
- Be sure that toys that require to be assembled are put together correctly and all pieces/screws are tightened.
- Forget the toy just give him the box! This is so true with little children, they love boxes. But beware of plastic wrapping, staples and loose parts left in the boxes.
- Keep toys for older children out of reach of younger children.
- Always check toys for worn, broken or loose parts.
- Teach your toddler to clean up when done playing. Not only will this make your life easier but could prevent falls and other injuries.
- Adult supervision when your child is playing is always a safety suggestion.
- Never allow small children to play with balloons. Deflated balloons are easily swallowed and difficult to remove.
- Avoid small balls, marbles and toys with small parts. If you have older children make sure they keep their toys away from baby.
- Avoid toys that have small magnets. If swallowed magnets can attract in the intestine and obstruct digestion which can be fatal.
