Toddler Bath Time Tips

Loading

toddler bath As your baby grows and becomes a toddler bath time can become more fun and more dangerous. NEVER turn your back for a second on your toddler when he is in the tub. Why you ask? Read on.

    • Drowning in the tub is more common then you may realize.
    • Slips and falls in the tub. Head injuries, broken bones and lacerations occur often to young children.
    • Burns from hot water in the bathtub. I right now know of three children who have scars from this kind of accident. Turn down your hot water heaters and watch your toddler.
    • Eating soap or shampoo. Yes,they will try it.
    • Soap or shampoo in their eyes. Keep your soap and shampoo out of reach.
    • Shaving cream looks fun but most has alcohol added and will burn eyes.
    • Make sure your razors are out of reach.

    • Make your toddler bath a fun time. Give him toys to play with and sing songs while you wash him.
    • This is a great time to teach colors, shapes, letters, numbers and many other fun things.
    • When you must wash your toddler's hair there are a few tricks you can try.
    • Lie your toddler on a towel with his head over a sink to wash his hair.
    • Use a bath visor. This helps to block water from dripping back into your toddlers eyes.
    • Always make sure you use tear free baby products. You think hair washing is stressful try it after you have burned your toddler's eyes with regular shampoo.
    • Count or sing a short song while washing your toddler's hair. Always make sure you end the hair washing at the end of the song or a certain number.
